Day 12: San Jose, California to Salt Lake City, Utah

768 miles today. Big day. We felt like we needed to make it so since we are expected in Philadelphia on Friday. That will be a push, for sure. But, we'll endeavor to make it happen as Greg can only do so much preparation for his game from the road.

The landscape we covered today was spectacular -- changing from urban to suburban cookie cutter malls to mountainous to high desert to salt flats to breath-taking mountains, again. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves and that's not just because I'm exhausted.

If you notice a theme of smokiness in all of these pics, that's the way it is when the West Coast is on fire. You get used to the smell and it fades with the air conditioning on recycled. But, when. you stop and get  the full brunt of it, it's surprising. Sad situation here. So many lives uprooted.

Weird statue(?) sprouting out of the Utah desert.

We got to Salt Lake City just as the sun was sinking. Whew!
Tomorrow we head East, hoping to get well into Colorado.
