Spent much of the day writing. In the afternoon, however, as my eyes glazed over and the the sunshine and blue sky outside the hotel window beckoned, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. Here are a few shots.
This fall Greg and I are leaving our Vermont home and zig zagging the country so that Greg can continue to cover his NFL football games without getting on planes. I know it seems crazy, but isn't that everything these days? We will be driving to each game, week by week, until the end of the football season. Follow along to read about our life on the road and the places we see along the way!

Day 17: Philadelphia
Gates of Philadelphia City Hall
The courtyard of our hotel
My attempt at an artsy shot
The domed building is across the street. It's being reflected in the windows of the building on my side. The lines are electronic messages streaming across the ceiling inside.
I was born in Philadelphia, though my family moved to Seattle when I was two years old, so I don't remember our house here. With covid limiting travel options and Greg's work keeping him occupied all day, searching out my infant home will have to wait for a return visit.

Wow, I didn’t know that! I was born in Darby PA, just outside of Philadelphia! How have we missed that fact over all these years? 💜💜💜
ReplyDeleteCool! Makes sense as we're clearly sisters separated by different sets of parents. Miss you, my sister.
DeleteHi sissy love you... I thought we tried to visit the home at Abby’s wedding!
ReplyDeleteHi, Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteReading these are fun and reminding me of my several cross-country road trips. Most recently, in 2017 my daughter and I drove to Portland,OR, dropping my sister off and picking her up in central IL. I had discovered Route 36 in 2001, I believe, as a more picturesque way to cross Kansas than I-70, and you can go almost as fast...unless you like to go really fast. Probably 80 mph is a bit high for that 4-lane highway with driveways opening onto it. But if you only have to go to Denver.....What are you traveling in? I thought I saw a picture of a camper.

We are in a rented SUV. Greg's work is paying for the car since they're not paying for air tickets. We're headed to Charlotte, NC on Thursday. Hope all's well with you and the rest of our OMH family!
DeleteWe did visit it, but only saw the outside. It would've been fun to spend more time in the neighborhood, maybe find Chestnut Hill Hospital. But that was not to be. Love you.
